About Sydney Joanna

My name is Sydney Joanna, I am 23 years old, and I am a filmmaker.

I decided to pursue filmmaking in college and graduated from the Academy of Art University's School of Motion Pictures & Television, majoring in Directing.

At the Academy, I discovered my passion for directing, which has brought me immense joy. Through directing, I have found a means to give others a voice and share their stories, exploring different perspectives through film.

I am deeply passionate about narrative and documentary films and view them as a way to inform audiences about important issues, help people to relate to others and understand different perspectives, develop a greater sense of compassion and empathy, and inspire people to make positive changes in their own lives and society.

During my time at the Academy, I had the opportunity to work with clients of all sorts, such as the SFFD, the SF Public Library, and the San Francisco Park Rangers - and that's when I realized my passion for film can help businesses build awareness through media marketing content.

Since then, my team and I have worked with small businesses to help with media marketing, including Drive Simulators, The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce, Mount Diablo Resource Recovery, Rise Group, a local real estate group, and several local East Bay restaurants.
